The Trainer
William James Jr. is the CEO and visionary behind WillsPower Performance LLC. Born and raised in Waco, Texas, Coach James attended Waco High School, where he excelled as a track athlete. Initially, he earned a track scholarship to Baylor University but chose to leave school to join the U.S. Army, where he served for nine years. During his time in the Army, Coach James continued to pursue his passion for track and field, competing while serving his country.
After serving in the U.S. Army, Coach James returned to Baylor University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Education with a minor in Health and Human Performance. He later relocated to the Dallas area to pursue his passion for coaching. During this time, he also completed a Master of Science in Sport and Exercise Psychology. Coach James holds both Level 1 and Level 2 coaching certifications.
Coach James's expertise and passion for track and field have propelled his successful coaching career in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He has coached numerous athletes to victories at the Texas State UIL Championships and the Junior Olympics National level, and has played a pivotal role as an assistant coach in helping Duncanville High School secure Back-to-Back State Titles. Beyond high school coaching, Coach James has also made an impact at the collegiate level with his work at Northwood University, where he mentored multiple National All-Americans. In recognition of his exceptional contributions to the sport, he was honored with the 6A Assistant Coach of the Year Award in 2023 and again in 2025.
